Round 3 - Snetterton

A fine summers day greeted us in Norfolk for round 3 of the Speed UK championship at Snetterton race circuit.

The car (and drivers) to date have been somewhat off the pace, partly due to the change in the handling characteristics of the Avon tyres compared to the original Radical optimised Dunlop tyres. However after some experimentation with the geometry, and advice from Avon Tyres with respect to the tyre pressures lap times are improving slowly!

The race itself proved to be as exciting and close as one has come to expect from a fast circuit like Snetterton, and despite qualifying at the back of the grid managed to finish 11th overall

SPEED has introduced a new bike-engined ‘Class C’ category for 2010 and the invitation was taken up by Gary Ramsdale and Shaun Mellors in their AEL Electrical Sourcing Radical SR3. The team is a welcome addition to the paddock and settled into the scene admirably. Having not driven the challenging Silverstone GP circuit before, they adapted to the conditions and on-track company well to qualify 9th just over a second behind the Ligier of Simmonds/Hall and are set to be joined by greater numbers in Class C from the next round at Brands Hatch onwards
Boy was it a different kind of racing! A new car, an unfamiliar track, and variable weather conditions to say the least! We were way off the pace for Silverstone, but a terrific learning experience for us all .

AEL on show at the Southern Manufacturing Exhibition

The SR3 attracted a lot of attention at The Southern Manufacturing Exhibition, held at Farnborough Airport this week, promoting both Electronics Sourcing Magazine, and AEL Crystals Ltd.

The exhibition itself attracted over 15,000 visitors over the two days, from the Electronics, Automotive, Aviation and Engineering manufacturing sector.

Well, Autosport 2010 is over and the deals have all been done and we can now publish the racing calendar for 2010.
